Welcome to Solas Psychology, a psychological services practice delivered by Dr Lauren Mawn and Dr Helen Beckwith.
Solas (pronounced: sul-us) is an Irish Gaelic word meaning light. A word of warmth and clarity, Solas shines with the beauty of nature and the spirit of hope.
Here we hope you can embark on a journey towards self-discovery and emotional well-being.
We hope to provide a safe and nurturing environment for individuals, couples, children, young people, and families facing physical and mental health challenges.
We also provide supervision, as well as workshops focused on mental health, relationships, and organisational well-being.

Dr Lauren Mawn
BSc (Hons) MSc PhD DClinPsy PGCert PGDip
I'm Lauren, a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over a decade experience working across the NHS, academia and private practice. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a Master's degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology, a PhD in Transformational Leadership, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology a PGDip in Teaching and Learning as well as in Systemic Family and Couples Therapy.
My clinical practice is grounded in evidence based approaches. I use an integrative and flexible framework to tailor therapy to each client's unique needs and goals.
In addition to my clinical work, I have held academic roles, contributing to doctoral training and supervising trainee clinicians and research, which has strengthened my commitment to combining scientific rigor with compassionate, person centered care. I have a particular interest in working with families and couples to improve communication, deepen connection and navigate challenges together.
Above all, I believe in the transformative power of relationships and the capacity for growth within every person. It is an utter privilege to support clients as they develop greater self understanding, heal and more toward more meaningful connected lives.

Dr Helen Beckwith
BSc(Hons) MSc DClinPsy PhD PGCert
I'm Helen, an HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist with over 12 years experience in the NHS, academia and charity sector. I specialise in evidence-based psychological treatments for adults, specifically: cognitive behavioural therapies; family interventions; and EMDR. I have particular knowledge and expertise of attachment theory having additionally earned a PhD in Understandings and Clinical Applications of Attachment Theory from the University of Cambridge.
I am best at supporting people with emotional and psychological concerns such as anxiety, depression, paranoia, low self-confidence, sleep disturbance, relationship difficulties, unusual and traumatic experiences.
I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals and families to help them understand and reduce distress, improve communication and get back to doing more of the things they want to be doing.
I have held academic research roles at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, taught medical and psychology students at both institutions, run large-scale clinical trials evaluating new treatments, supervised clinical psychology trainees and CBT practitioners, contributed to several peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and international conferences.
